About the tour

Castles, caves and limestone valleys

This Ojców National Park tour takes you into one of Poland’s national parks. On foot or by bike, your licensed guide leads you through the most beautiful hilly stretches of the Prądnik valley, where nature has witnessed history: the Gothic castle of the first Polish kings in Ojców, the Renaissance pearl of Pieskowa Skała, and the sites of 19th-century battles for a free Poland.

You’ll see Hercules’ Club, a rock said to have been put there by the devil himself, and visit a settlement with a historic mill and sawmill. We refresh ourselves with traditionally served local trout and, in the quiet of the limestone hills, take in the beauty of Poland’s smallest national park.

Questions & answers

Good to know

Which ways are there to visit Ojców National Park?

Three. On foot: a 4-hour guided walk through the Prądnik valley, priced per group. By bike: a 40 km ride of about 5 hours that starts in the national park, or a full-day 60 km ride that starts in Kraków. The bike tours are priced per person, with the bike included, for groups of 4 to 14 people.

Which castles do we visit?

That depends on the option. On the walk we visit the ruins of the Gothic castle in Ojców and the Renaissance castle of Pieskowa Skała; the tickets are paid on the day. On the 40 km bike tour the entrance to Ojców Castle is included, and on the 60 km bike tour the entrance to Pieskowa Skała Castle.

How do we get to the park?

The 60 km bike tour starts in Kraków, so we ride there together. The walk and the 40 km bike tour start in the national park, and you get there on your own, for example by car or by bike. On weekends in the season, the recreational bus line LR0 runs from Kraków to Ojców Castle: check the website of Kraków’s public transport (MPK) to see whether it runs on your day.

How hard is the bike route?

The valley is hilly. You can choose between 40 and 60 km, depending on how far you’d like to ride.

What is included in the price?

On the walk: a licensed guide, in English or Polish, for your whole group; the castle tickets are paid on the day. On the bike tours: a licensed guide, the bike and the castle entrance (Ojców on the 40 km tour, Pieskowa Skała on the 60 km tour). Lunch is not included: on the walk there is time for lunch in the park, where local trout is served the traditional way.
